Raised in northeastern North Carolina, along the banks of the Pasquotank River, the Outer Banks has been a vacation destination and/or my home since 1974. My love for the outdoors, and a desire to always live by the water, is what makes the Outer Banks the perfect place for me to call home!
While growing up in Elizabeth City, my parents, Roger and Ursula Tolson, purchased a small oceanfront vacation home in Kitty Hawk. Nothing fancy, but since we lived less than an hour away, we were able to use the home on weekends when it was not rented. It was a real treat for the family to pack up the car and head for the beach. Many of my happiest childhood moments were spent playing in the sand & surf along the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.
While attending college at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, I was able to continue this tradition of spending time at the beach. Waiting tables at a local Nags Head restaurant allowed me time to enjoy the Outer Banks while making a little extra money for school. In 1988, I graduated from ECU with a BSBA in Finance, and a concentration in Real Estate. That same year, I packed up my bags and moved to Kitty Hawk for what has now evolved into a permanent career as a REALTOR on the Outer Banks of North Carolina!
Today, I live in Kill Devil Hills with my wife Melanie and our dog Louie. We love being centrally located to our work, and the many hobbies we both enjoy. Mine are sailing on our Catalina 30, biking, fishing and discussing the latest stocks & investments. Melanie also enjoys the sailing, but prefers riding her horse Lucky, which she boards over on the Currituck mainland. We both cherish spending time with old friends, and meeting many new folks who have also gravitated toward these very special Outer Banks!
My love for the area, and my desire to help others achieve their real estate goals, has attributed to my success in the real estate profession. Also in 2003, I was one of 5,290 individuals presented with the RE/MAX Platinum Club award, an honor I have also achieved in 2004. Prior to 2003, I was consistently presented with the RE/MAX 100% Club, an award which recognizes associates who earn commissions far above the industry average!
